Hey Guys,

For some reason, my Sapphire HD4870 has started to run very hot. It's not overclocked or anything (GPU 750mhz, memory 900mhz) but the idle temp is 91 degrees with the fan running at 58% constantly. If I manually turn up the fan to 100%, it gets down to 81 degrees but no lower.

My case (Antec 900) is well ventilated with good cable management etc and I have recently used an air duster to blast out all the dust in there and in the GPU heatsink.

Any suggestions?

Many Thanks!

Ok, I solved the problem... Removed the card and blew compressed air directly inside the heatsink. Huge wafts of dust came out. Now i'm idling at 67 degrees. Phewf!

It is? Hmmm, well i've got a Gelid Icy Vision Rev.2 VGA Cooler coming my way tomorrow so hopefully that should sort it out. Wonder why it's so high though! Perhaps when I apply some new paste it will be lowered.
