Suggestions guys??

this is going to be my rig... i plan playing games(bf3,gta-IV,elder skryim,COD,fifa etc) at full hd and using software like Catia, Alias, Photoshop... And also rendering 3D CAD models with high detail and plan not changing it for another 4 years...

My only problem is that most of the shopkeepers are saying its not worth buying the i5 as the i3 will do most of the work.. the price diff is like $75-80(i3 3220 and i5 3450).. and also the i3 has base clock of 3.3Ghz while the i5 has 3.1Ghz, will that make a diff in single core programs,
what do u say guys should i go with the i3 or the i5... Please reply as soon as possible coz i want to buy it asap...

An i5 will be better than an i3 where applications are multi-threaded...check the programs you're planning on using and see how many cores they use. I'd still say go with a quad-core; it's a more robust system and will provide a better platform for gaming alone, before we even consider the other applications (BF3, for instance, will perform better on an i5).

Shopkeepers keen on selling a cheaper model are usually up to something.

i5 ... don't worry about the clock speed difference, i5-2400 can turbo to 3.4GHz on a single core anyway. i3's can not turbo.

EDIT: Sorry didn't read OP properly .. i5-3450 can turbo to 3.5GHz

Well it says quad core is recommended... i was just worried about the price diff.. is it worth the diff... also how future proof the i3 3220 is compared to the i5 3450..

go with the i5 for bf3 its better than the i5 and you're using i for rendering which will be better on the i5

Tubro boost, hyper threading ahh... not enough time to decide... i will be going with i5 only then... oh is the b75 a good board or should i go for h77, i am on a very tight budget, coz if i go for the h77 then i will have to go for the 20in monitor then
