How to know what cpu is compatible with the motherboard?

Figure out what motherboard you have and then a quick search online should bring up the maker's website with a list of all compatible processors on it.

If that doesn't work, it would at least reveal the slot type and then you could just get a processor of that slot type and it would probably work.
