My pops lives in S. America. He asked me buy and test a cheap refurbished computer. The only request he had was that it play Netflix and also that it has a large HD.
I found two refurbished systems at Best Buy, but I don't know how to gauge the older/cheaper processors.
ACER ($279)
Acer - Refurbished Aspire X1 Desktop - 4GB Memory - 1TB Hard Drive
AMD E-450
6 Gigs DDR3
1TB HD (@7200RPM)
eMachine ($220)
eMachines - Refurbished Desktop / Intel® Pentium® Processor / 3GB Memory
Intel® Pentium @ 3.2ghz (I assume this is the E-5800)
3GB Ram
1TB HD (@5400RPM)
The AMD system of course has the APU (HD 6320) while the E-5800 has onboard video (GMA 4500HD).
I understand that the e-450 is a low power much weaker processor, but the APU portion of it is far superior to the GMA 4500HD. However, I think the Pentium@3.2 likely destroys the e-450 processing power.
I think both will run 1080p blu-ray (correct)? But which one will run smooth for overall tasks?
(Both come with Windows 7 64-bit Home Premium)
NOTE - I usually build my own systems, but I have no time with work before my trip and i don't think I could beat the price. I am also doing best buy because the price is ok and I will get to try it out for a few days before I take it abroad, if it fails, best buy returns my money... building it myself makes it harder.
Please advice the pros and cons of both systems and whether I which I should pick.
