Hi Brett, sorry I already posted the question. Anyhow...if you can help, I have a dell xps gen3. If the mains cable is disconnected and/or there is a power cut, the pc will not power up for at least 5 days....Once it powers up,the system can be shutdown, powered off and on again.....until such time as the mains is removed from the psu input.....There appears to be an isue with the psu..(possibly a component).I can work on the board if I knew what was causing the prob....any help tks.

Hi :)

Its most likely to be the psu...around a 90% chance to 10% motherboard... try swapping a known good psu in...then try it.

All the best Brett :)

Brett, I know its 100% psu. Problem is I can't get a swop,I am a qualified electronic technician, I can replace a faulty component....but I cannot get schematics or a diagnosis as to why the psu is failing....in any case the unit is NPS 48000x DD...The cost of a new psu is not worth it.

Hi :)

From memory that a slimline psu correct ?

I now understand why you dont want to buy another from dell..lol

If you are qualified as an electrician why not just hang a bog standard atx psu off the side of the case and try it...?

All the best Brett :)

It is slimline...Next problem, the nps 24pin motherboard connector differ from a std.atx psu.
