I built my system back in 09, I got alot of great help and advise here Thank you all, but its time to think about an upgrade this will only be a temporary upgrade if its possible, until I build a full new system.

Mobo - Asus M2N-SLI
CPU - AMD Athlon 64 x2 5000+ Black Edition
RAM - 2gig DDR2
GPU - Readeon HD 4850
Win XP - Unfortunatly lol but systems run great since 09 with no probs at all since

So what I need help on is : I found a - AMD HDX945WFGIBOX Phenom II X4 945 Quad Core Processor - 3.00GHz, 6MB Cache, 2000MHz (4000 MT/s) FSB, Retail, Socket AM3, Processor with Fan ( $79.99 ) at TigerDirect

Will this CPU work on the Asus M2N-SLI Motherboard? or would my Black Edition 5000+ be better off If I tried to overclock it.

Yes, the Phenom II X4 945 will work in your motherboard. Just make sure it's not the Black Edition CPU with 125w TDP, the highest supported TDP on your motherboard is 95w.

The 945 should work fine. You can find the cpu support list here:
http://www.asus.com/Motherboards/AMD_AM2/M2NSLI/#specif...
It's better than what you have, but only you can say if it's worth it. If you are building a new system in the near future, you might just want to hold off.
On a side note, you might want to consider more RAM if you are maxing out the 2 gigs you have.
