The 680. It's cheaper, quieter, and a little bit faster than the 7970.

e56 is right

Right now i would go the GTX560, however they are hard to get as stock is limited.

HOWEVER, within the next month the 7970 should drop by ~$100 making it a $400 -$450 priced card

that will make it VERY tempting over the 680

Right now you can't get a GTX 680 for $500 it's out of stock everywhere.

If you're going to SLI/CF later the HD 7970s scales better than GTX 680s. And if the price of HD 7970 is gonna drop it would be a great solution for 3 monitors setup.

The price of the 7970 is not going to drop any time soon (hate to break it to you).

GTX 680 all the way:
-Higher performance
-Lower power consumption
-Better drivers
-Better game support and compatibility
-Better image quality (better texture filtering, new antialiasing modes and Adaptive VSync)
