HD 5970 - Extend to triple screens

Hello, I just bought an adapter to my HD 5970 so I can use 3 screens. But it won't work. I can only use two screens? But I can disable one of the screens to make the other one work, so there isn't any problems with the cables.

You have to use 2 Displayport monitors. If you use both DVI-s you are limited to 2. At least that is how I understand it, I assume that there is another displayport hidden in the photo.

Is your display port adapter active or passive? To enable eyefinity, the 3rd screen must be connected via an active display port adapter.

Does this also apply when I just want to extend it?

It is something to do with some synchronous clocks somewhere. Displayport can duplicate them, DVI can't or something.

Anyway, ALBD seems to have it right, check out the link he posted.

Yes, I believe it is an absolute requirement for 3 displays.

Yes adapter has to be Active, if not no 3 screen.
Once you have that active adapter it will run 3 screen fine (used to run triple display on my pair of 5970's)
