Is the MSI K9N6GM series (MS-7309 v1.x) Micro-ATX motherboard compatible with SSD harddrives?

If it has a sata port, then it will run at whatever speed it's rated for. Sata III will run at sata I or sata II speed if that's what the board has. I use a standard sata cable with my ssd, and it's run on both sata I and sata II boards before. My current board has a sata III port.

Doesn't it have to support AHCI?

You might want to check the specs.

No. SSD's run fine in ide mode. Achi is only required for trim support; it's faster, but not worth changing boards for.
