Hey guys. I built my new rig. It has GTX 660 ti. I am currently using my old mobo. I need to upgrade my processor as my old one is definitely bottle-necking my Gpu. Can you guys help me with the best amd processor for the price that would be able to run my 660 ti at its full potential? PLEASE DONT SUGGEST INTEL CPUS AS I HAVE NO MONEY FOR NEW MOBO. My old socket is am3 btw:)

Yes, you can also overclock the CPU to get more performance out of it.

Whats the model number, we need to make sure it is compatible with your mobo.

You need to make sure that they are even compatible with your motherboard.

There won't be a noticable difference between the Phenom ii x4 and the 3 FX CPUs.

I would go with the 965 too. why pump money into a dinosaur ? and yes, no matter what, that processor will hold back that video card unless you play at 1200 resolution.

So final decision, 965 BE? Is 965 BE really not going to bottleneck my new 660 ti?I mean its really low price cpu. So just wanted to make sure. I really want the best possible out of my card. And btw If i get the 965 BE, how much can i overclock it to? max stable? Please reply genius people on the internet. Thanks in advance.

It's going to bottleneck, that's why you have to overclock.

What cooler do you have?

A 965 is very capable of providing CPU power to push FPS, but honestly why would anyone buy a new GPU to just push FPS, when you can blend it with AA, AF and other tessellation goodies to balance frames/performance and Qualilty of image. I would rather play BF3 maxed textures 4xMSAA, 8xAF, lots of occlusions at 40-50FPS than just push maximum frame rates and run into hardware bottlenecks.

And yes the user is very capable of getting 50FPS with a 965 with a good helping of visual eyecandy engaged.
