Use standard atx supply for dell demensions 4700c

this maybe crazy but....I have a stanard atx power supply that I want to attach to the out side of the case on a Dell dimensions 4700c (dell power supply died) and run the cables in thru the back. will a standard atx power and cabling work on this pc other than needing a molex to sata cable? pinouts the same?

The PSU in that unit appears to be a standard ATX. No reason you should have to mount it outside the case that I can see.

The manual is for three different versions. I suppose he has the small form factor model.

I forgot to mention that it's a slimline case with a long thin supply inside that is dead. That's why I want to mount on outside so I don't have to buy a supply. Will it still work with a standard supply? I heard Dell supplies are different from the standard ones.
