Approximate Purchase Date: asap!

Budget Range: $600-800 After Rebates

System Usage from Most to Least Important: Gaming (ultra on SC2), internet, schoolwork

Parts Not Required: keyboard, mouse, monitor (not necessary but i could)

Preferred Website(s) for Parts: newegg or wherever!

Country: California (orange county)

Parts Preferences: none! but compatible so that system can be upgraded

Overclocking: Yes

SLI or Crossfire: Sure

Monitor Resolution: no preference

Additional Comments: quiet would be a plus but if not, not a big deal. like i mentioned already, i want to be able to upgrade it on 4-5 years.

im a pc n00b, so it would be cool if you could put alternatives and price differences, and what the difference would be. i know that is asking a lot though.

thanks in advance

For the MB set either one of these they are specially priced when you buy the 3570K CPU. both are solid MB's

the link to the SSD goes to the 60GB Agility 3 is that the one you mean?

the memory is 1.65v, I would go with 1.5v. it's like they are OCing the memory already to get it to perform at 1600. a pet peeve of mine.

noticed that you didn't have a PSU listed. here are some suggestions (best under $70 after MIR):

Changes:
switched memory to ballistix 1.5v
gigabyte motherboard z77 (good deal with 3570k)
yes, the ssd was 60gb
GPU and PSU were a combo deal, but took your $60 750w and got a separate video card

new list:

cpu: i5 3570k - MICROCENTER $190

motherboard: z77 $115 (deal with 3570k!)

memory: 8GB DDR3 1600 Corsair $40
http://www.microcenter.com/single_product_results.phtml...

GPU: newegg: 7850 $250

http://www.microcenter.com/single_product_results.phtml...

DVD Drive $15

That Gigabyte mobo is ok, but doesn't really offer enough advantages over the ASRock Z77 Extreme4 to justify the extra $30.
http://www.microcenter.com/single_product_results.phtml...

The extra $25-30 can be used on a CPU Cooler, the Hyper 212 EVO seems to be a favorite around here, so I would suggest that.
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...

Or you can get a USB 3.0 case.
http://www.microcenter.com/single_product_results.phtml...

Yes, the 7850 is sufficient, averaging about 73 FPS at 1900x1200.

A 60 GB SSD will hold your OS, Steam, and SC2, with a bit of room to spare.

this may interest you...

You dont need but like 500watts and the deal comes out to be $80 after rebate, which means you basically are paying $20 for the PSU and getting a free SSD, which saves you $50 so you have like another $60 ($30 + $30) to spend on a GPU, maye enough to get the HD 7870 now. It looks like almost... http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...

Actually yeah get the ASRock motherboard, which saves another $30 and with that you can get the HD 7870 and a USB 3.0 case. Are you going to overclock your CPU? If so you will want the CM Hyper 212 EVO Cooler, but that can also be a later upgrade. The CPU already destroys.

550w is more than sufficient for a 7850, even after Oc'ing it.

i'd be willing to spend a little more on the case; my microcenter is out of that one, and upping to a usb 3.0 case sounds good.

and pci card?
