Should I get the phenom ii x4 965 BE or the fx 6100?

I'm looking to build a gaming pc on a pretty tight budget (trying to stay close to 600 bucks for parts). Ordinarily, I would go with an i3, since intel is unmatched in core performance and is undoubtedly the better choice if gaming is all I'm doing, but I'm looking to do some multitasking as well. I want to record games, probably with some other stuff open as well like a webcam/skype, music, some browser tabs. I don't think an i3 can really hold up in that kind of situation.
So I'm trying to decide between the phenom ii x4 965 BE and the fx 6100. I probably won't be overclocking, at least not right away. Which cpu will serve my purposes better?

Okay, thanks! I'll be pairing it with a 7850 so i'm going to go with the 965. How far into the future do you think it will remain a viable cpu for gaming?

Alright will do. Although, for 40 bucks more than the 965, it would need to be considerably better to make me go for it.

I agree with getting 965, or wait until "piledriver" is out and tested. Unfortunately the "bulldozer" is not what it was planned to be. I for one am hoping that the "piledriver" lives up to its specs. Time will tell.
Besides the 965's are dirt cheap now and I've never seen it slow down.
