Due to a HDD failure on my Touchsmart unit, I bought a replacement and installed Win7 Pro (non HP version). I have all HP software downloaded and installed from the HP driver support page but I can't get the touchscreen to work. After running PC Doctor I get the below result.
Screen Health Test Test Started 20/03/2012 22:48:25 Error Message: The touch screen is not functioning properly 20/03/2012 22:48:41 Test Finished: Failed (Error code: MN501-10W) 20/03/2012 22:48:42
Anyone have and idea of what the code means ? Thx in advance

did you download the touchscreen drivers from HP? Check device manager and see if something shows up with an exclamation mark.
I'm not sure whether you have the 545uk or 545a. Also not sure whether its 32 or 64 bit.
I did notice a driver on the HP site called: NextWindow Multi-Touch Device Driver Update
You may want to check that out. Chances are, the graphics driver will run the display correctly, but without additional touchscreen digitizer drivers, you're out of luck.
Ok, running Win7 64 bit on an IQ545UK. I installed the NextWindow Multi-Touch Device Driver Update but it made not difference
Any other advice is more than welcome. I would like the touch screen to work again if possible
I would strongly recommend talking to HP about this first. Unofficial support like this should be a last resort, not first stop. HP has hordes of people on hand trained to deal with exactly this kind of thing.
HP seem reluctant to provide me with a concise answer to the exact meaning of the code but of course they will collect and repair at a cost of over £400.
Helpdesk is not very helpful
Jesus, that's expensive. Well then, it looks like forums like these are exactly where you need to be. Might even try Geek Squad, or any equivalent in your area. They'll charge you, but I doubt it will be £400.
