LCD Question

I'm lookin to buy the hitachi CML174 black, and i just have a couple of questions. I've read a ton of reviews, some posistive, some not so posistive, such as the anandtech review. This is alot of money to spend on a monitor, and i want to make sure it's exactly what I want. I will be using it mainly for web browsing, email, chat, etc.. but I do need it to play games when I desire, bf1942, wolfenstein, c&c generals, gta vice cty, etc... I'm currently using a KDS a7v avitron flat screen CRT and it's slowly dying.

Would I be better off for my needs going with a quality 19in CRT, such as a sony trinitron? Or will this hitatchi work for what i need it to. The hitathi is 459 from monitorsdirect.com , which is where i will be purchasing it from, and the sony runs around 350. Thanks for any replies.

*** I also heard about a hardware bug with bf1942 and certain combinations, anyone know anything about this?
