Xbox 360 wont connect to my laptop

Ok I have dial up internet and I use that internet to get on xbox live yes I know it sucks but its all that is available in my area.

I have connected my laptop to my xbox via an ethernet cord
CAT-6 I believe,
I used to be able to get on xbox live this way then one day I tried to get on and and it would not connect to my pc it said It could not fine my IP I went on xbox.com and did the troubleshooting thing and nothing worked please help!

Check the IP of the computer, it may have changed.

I'm using windows vista do I need to look at the computers IP or the iternets ip I dont know how to find my ip

You are using internet connection sharing? You need to make sure the IP of the XBOX and the PC match, same subnet and gateway. To find the IP, open a command prompt on the computer and type in "ipconfig".

You may want to go through the ICS setup again.

Ok I got this fixed I had to reinstal my internet provider then go in to my network and sharing center and make sure the box Let other networks use this network connection.
