Hello,
This is my first ever gaming PC build. I'll be using this PC mainly for playing contemporary games at max possible settings. I want this PC to be somewhat "future proof" , though I know in Computing, technology changes so often..

Approximate Purchase Date: This month

Budget Range: $1000- $1200

System Usage from Most to Least Important: primarily for gaming ( BF3, Skyrim with mods, Crysis 2, Max Payne 3, GTA 5 when it comes out..) watching movies

Parts Not Required:keyboard, mouse, monitor, speakers, optical drive, OS

Preferred Website(s) for Parts: newegg.com

Country: USA

Parts Preferences: I would definitely love to have a GTX 670 in my build.

Overclocking: Maybe in future.

SLI or Crossfire: Maybe in future.

Monitor Resolution:1920x1080

Additional Comments: I would love to have a relatively cool and quiet PC. Also, there are many vendors selling the gtx 670 card. Do tell me which one will be good in the long run..
I've selected these components for my build, let me know if its kinda slick. Open to all suggestions..
Thank You !!

Solution
You don't need to OC over 4.2 GHz, on IB that is. Get the DCII GTX 670 by ASUS. No, it will not bottleneck. The i5-2500/3570k is a very capable GPU.

i5 - 3570 k to make use of PCI Express 3.0 for GTX 670.

I would stick with WD Caviar Blue at the moment and get a 60 Gb SSD instead as a boot drive. I recommend Mushkin Chronos or Crucial m4.

If you plan to SLI that GTX 670 in the future, I would get a 750W PSU. That way you have headroom for whatever else you want to upgrade in the future.

Other than that, the rest of the build looks good.

Thanks for all the info.. :) I've heard that i5 3570k sort of bakes up after OC'ing to 4.2 ghz as compared to the i5 2500k.. Thats why i'm kinda reluctant to opt for an ivy bridge.
Just wanted to know that will an i5 2500k CPU running at stock speeds, has any chance of bottlenecking the gtx 670..? as I won't be OC'ing my CPU for quite a while.. And whats all the hype about PCI Express 3.0..?? (does it really matter that much?)

If you're going to get a processor from Microcenter in-store pick up, you may as well get your mobo there as well and save and extra $50 from the combo deal.

An i5 3570k is slightly faster per GHz. So a 4.2 OC on a 3570k is about the same as a 4.5 OC on a 2500k.

Well, thanks again for all the info guys!! :) I guess I'll might go with the i5 ivy bridge now. Won't a 750W PSU be an overkill ??Also @azeem40 : The brand you mentioned DCII GTX 670 by ASUS looks pretty slick indeed, but is out of stock at the moment, might have to wait for a while I guess..
