DELL INSPIRON 1525 HDD UPGRADE

Hello,

MY 320 GB HDD ON MY DELL 1525 RECENTLY STARTED GIVING ME BLUE SCREENS AND TELLING ME THAT MY HARD DRIVE WOULD SOON FAIL AND TO BACK UP ALL FILES. I HAVE BACKED UP ALL FILES ON MY EXTERNAL HD. SPOKE WITH DELL TODAY AND THEY WANT TO CHARGE ME 150 POUNDS TO REPLACE MY HDD WHICH IS PRETTY EXP FOR A STUDENT. DECIDED TO JUST BUY THE PART MYSELF AND INSTALL THE NEW HDD WHICH SEEMS STRAIGHTFORWARD WITH SOME AIDE FROM YOUTUBE. I HAVE ALSO MANAGED TO OBTAIN A COPY OF WINDOWS 7 AND WANT TO INSTALL THIS ON THE NEW HDD INSTEAD OF THE STANDARD WINDOWS VISTA WHICH I HAVE. COULD ANYBODY HELP ME SO I DON'T MESS IT UP AND ALSO IT WOULD BE APPRECIATED IF SOMEONE COULD LET ME KNOW HOW I GET MY OLD BACKED UP FILES OFF MY EXTERNAL HD..

MANY THANKS,

SAM

Don't post in capitals, it represents you shouting which is considered rude.
  2. First, fix you caps lock button.

Unfortunately, there are no windows 7 drivers. Just vista drivers.

You can try to install win 7 and try the vista driver but no guaranteed to work.

to install a OS thru dvd drive. Go into bios to boot from dvd drive. insert the dvd, reboot, follow the instruction on screen then install driver.
