Hello everyone!

I don't know if there is already a similar thread on the forum but if there is please refer me to it!

I bought Acer Travelmate 5742ZG 6 months ago, not quite a "machine" but it served me well before i started to work with some softwares which, it seems, require more resources then I have if talking about performance.

Anyway, I would like to know if there is a way of upgrading my CPU...

My motherboard model and version is "Acer Travelmate 5742ZG v1.15" and socket for CPU is 989 rPGA.
If it's possible to upgrade also I'd like to know the types of CPU's.

Thank you! :)

Blender 2.63 and photoshop cs5... i've read the sys requirements for blender but it's not working quite well.

When i start blender the perfomace is fine and after two hours of sculpting and so, it starts to go sloooooow slow motion and i dont know why...

Well maybe it's because of graphic card not the CPU but i'm not really sure

A core i3 laptop isn't the best place to be running those 2 programs. Recommended hardware is what is enough to launch a software, not run it smoothly.
Is a processor upgrade possible, yes,to an i5. 8gb of ram and a solid state drive would also help.

I3 is not installed in my notebook (if that is what you mean) ... i have pentium P6200 dual core 2.13GHz

But thanks for recommendations ... I'll see what I can afford to myself :)

all of th mobile chips will fit, what will work depends on what acer allows thru the bios.

ok... but how do i access bios?

my nb doesnt show me the full bios only the boot order, passwrd, silent boot, sata mode, specs and no more ...
is there a way to access the whole bios settings not just the "basic" most needed settings.

Your best option would be to invest in a core i5/i7 desktop, for your rendering. Updating your laptop will prove expensive.

Like I said, the core i5 580M.
You might be able to run an i7 640M. Might.
