I don't Know if the GPU i want will work with my computer

I have a HP pavillion p6874. I want to install a Gigabyte hd 6770. Will it work? I know i need a new power supply. But is it compatable with the motherboard? and there is something called "PCIE" Slots... I don't really know what that means. Will it fit? My PC's PCIE is 1.0 i think and the GPU's 2.1...

You definitely need a new PSU. Also your mobo will not work with a PCI Express 2.1 card. but it will work with a PCI-express 1.0 2.0 or 3.0 card although the 3.0 card would perform better in a PCI-express 3.0 slot. Your mobo only has a PCI-express 2.0 slot. Stay away from PCI-express 2.1 cards as they are not compatible with anything other than PCI-express 2.1 slots. While 1.0 2.0 3.0 are all interchangable (backwards compatible).
