Help with insanely messed up norton install!!

OK, i install norton system works 2002 pro. la la la, error install, crashes to reboot. ok i reboot. la la la, cant install uninstall old version. la la la, unstall, restart. windows tries to configure norton antivirus 2002 eventho i uninstalled it. gets the following error:
Internal Error 2743:
Remove_SB_Service.63046904_C879_4878_A5E1_34EC5ED3F097, C:\program files\common files\symantec shared\script blocking\sbserv.exe, - remove. No matter what it wont go away. i even manually uninstalled as Symantec explains on the site, reg keys and all... How can i remedy this?

Step one. Run RegEdit or some other Registry editing tool and delete ALL references to Symantec, Norton, NAV, Clean sweep. etc. Also, explore your hard drive and delete all Norton directories, probably under C:\Program Files\.
I had the same problem when I tried installing Norton SWPro2002 on my daughter's Dell L1000R. You prabably won't find any references to Norton under Control Panel|Add/Remove Programs if the install puked on you.
Oh, one other minor thing. BACK UP YOUR REGISTRY FILE BEFORE WHACKING ANYTHING!
