The LaserJet 1000 can be installed as a local printer, in a Windows 7 - 64 bit system, under XP Mode (32 bit system). Originally, XP mode is limited to the Pro, Ultimate and Enterprise versions. But there is procedure that to create something similar to XP Mode for the Home version.
Additional work is required to make the printer accessible to the host W7 computer, as well as to other printers that there might be in a network.
The required procedures are described in the following link - post of 04-17-2012.http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Printer-All-in-One-Software/Windows-7-and-HP-Laserjet-1000/td-p/129513/page/7
Hope someone finds this useful.
