I am in the process of building a new gaming Pc, and just wanted to know if i can go for a 500w instead of a 600w to save some money for a SSD, the system specs are;

Intel Core i5 3550.
Asrock H77m motherboard.
320GB HDD.
Either a GTX 560 or 560ti (not yet decided)
Not decided on the RAM either!

The two Powers supplies i've been looking at are both from Corsair (CX600 - CX500)

So should is the 600w a slight overkill?

Thanks in advance!

Case looks good; can't get much less expensive than that.

Keep checking computex news this week for GTX660 availability; I think that is where we will find out first.
I really like using a ssd for the os and a few games. The price is getting down to <$1 per gb.
If you can budget for a 120gb ssd, why not omit the hard drive in the first place?
120gb will hold the os and 6-8 games.
Here is an Intel 330 180gb ssd, it should be all you need for a while. Add a hard drive later if you need to:

The 120gb version is $150.

It is not wrong to overprovision the psu a bit.
Under load, the fan will not spin up so much and get noisy.

The Corsair buider series are good value units, 500w or 600w would be fine.
The GTX560ti needs a bit more than the GTX560.

As to ram, there is no need to spend extra on faster speeds or better timings.
It does not pay off in FPS. Read this, it applies to ivy bridge too.:

The place to save your budget is on the case.
