Hello,
My Mobo just crapped out, so I'm looking for some advice on some new hardware.
Old build:
- Athlon II x4 620
- 4GB DDR2 800Mhz
- Radeon HD 6790

I don't plan on upgrading the GPU, just wanted to toss that in there. I'm looking to find a good CPU to run dual box'd games like Borderlands 2. My current stuff worked fine with little to no lag running med-high 1680x1050 dual box BL2. I've been looking at the new Trinity's, especially that a10 5700 for $130. Or the i5 3450 for $150. Should I look into a 6-core like the 1100t? or an 8 core? I've looked everywhere, but could only find multiboxing advice for WoW and most of the threads were pretty old. Any advice would be appreciated! Thanks!

If you want to stay with AMD, you can get all this for less than $200 including shipping. And it will handle a far more powerful GFX card than the one you have now.

There are several other combinations including going to an Intel based system that are also available. Any of them would be a better gamer than a Trinity. And anything over a quad core is wasted on gaming.

OK I went with a Intel build for you at $238.97. I went somewhat cheep to save money. It gives you room for a better MB or CPU.

CPU: It's dual core but it will play any game out there.

MB: ASRock H77M LGA

I'm not an Intel fan boy but they are the best right now. And the build I just gave you crushes your old one.
