  1. Your best bet:
    http://www.flipkart.com/zotac-nvidia-geforce-gt240-1-gb-gddr5-graphics-card/p/itmd4uwppzzh4huz?pid=GRCD4RC6ZS6DUCMZ

It's the best card you can get for 3500-4000 rupees. It won't play the latest games on the highest settings, but it should handle medium-high well.
  2. To add to sunius's post, a graphics card more powerful than that would just bottleneck your processor.
  3. agreed, but i don't think it will be able to play latests games on medium-high, battlefield 3 for instance will probably not even run at acceptable framerate. most of games will be played on very low settings, and others will not work, it is not a gaming video card.
  4. but is the card old or new??its shader model is 4.1 !!will it be suficient?? i can run games at 1024*768 resolution only
  5. Yes it will run games on 1024x768.

@ricardois, actually it is a gaming card, just low end one. It's not that bad at such low resolution, should play Battlefield 3 on low settings, but on less demanding games it will allow medium settings and even high for some.

  6. The card will not run in Dx11, but all the DX11 games I've seen or heard of, still offer a DX9 option.
  7. what kind of games?
to play games at that resolution i would recommend you:

the GT 230 is not for gaming.

    It's GT 240, not GT 230.

And +1 to the above poster for suggesting Hd 5670. For some reason I missed it. HD 5670 performs better than GT 240.
  9. can i have a card with 2gb memory and of shader model 5.0??
  10. You don't need it. With a card of the power you want, along with the resolution you have, 1gb should be more than enough for some time to come.
  11. suppose i get a smps of higher power supply..then??
  12. When I said power, I was talking about performance. 2gb is only useful at high resolutions with very high end settings all turned on. You won't be in that position with this card, so 1gb is more than enough vram.
  13. then i need to change my monitor..suppose i have a monitor supporting high resolution, then suggest me some card..coz i want to play latest games in good graphics and for some time to come..thats why i upgraded my cpu!!
  14. a psu with 400w should be more than enough for that video card, if your psu is not showing issues, you don't really require another PSU.
  15. Bodhisatwa, at your 4000 rupee budget you won't get a better card than HD 5670. If you want something better, you'll have to spend more money.
  16. suggest me some good gaming cards within my budget irrespective of my configuration...i can upgrade my monitor and smps..i just upgraded my cpu
  17. do the graphics card series matter?? like ati 6 series card is better than a 5 series 1 in general??
  18. with that budget i think that is the best graphics card for you

    its newer not better.

under 5xxx series you don't have dx11 so if you want it should be 5xxx 6xxx or 7xxx

even if i change my monitor and smps??? :(
  21. that graphics card is the best under 4000 rupees, if you wan't a better graphics card you will need to spend more, no matter what system you have, that is the best graphics card you can get for that money.
  22. is ati 5670 the best for me even if i keep my recent config or change my monitor and smps??
  23. Yes it is. As I mentioned before - it's the best you can get. Don't be fooled though, that card isn't weak for your configuration. It's old, but you will be able to play latest games on medium-high settings.

will it be able to play battlefield3,nfs run, skyrim and other games like these at medium-high settings?

    Agreed whit the 5670. My personal experience: 5670 1gb > 240 1gb.
  26. yes at that resolution the 5670 will be able to run those games at medium-high settings.

but if you change monitor to 1080p you will probably need to lower graphics a little more.

    Battlefield 3: medium settings
    NFS the run: medium-high settings
    skyrim: high
    Most other games: high.

  31. Wats d difrence btwen playing a high graphics game at 1024 768 to that of other higher resltns?hw r the requirements affected by this??
  32. Seriously, don't spam. If you change your monitor to high resolution, you'll have to lower settings. Increase of resolution means your card has to work harder to achieve same graphical settings.
  33. Bodhisatwa said:

if you change resolution you will probably need to lower the settings, but there is always the possibility of changing monitor, and turning the monitor resolution down if you really can't downgrade graphics that way the performance will not be affected...

if you want a graphics card to play at high resolutions with high quality you will need to invest much more than 4000 rupees.
  34. today i installed my friend's nvidia 9400gt in my cpu ...battlefield3 ran well in medium settigs..alan wake ran good in high settings!..is ati 5670(you guy's choice) much better than 9400gt??

  36. Look, you were given a good answer to your original question, there is no reason to drag this on. For the price range given, the card suggested above is the best you'll get. You don't need more vram with that card and the type of cards that might have a use for more, even if you had a monitor of higher resolution, are out of your price range.

This is the best card for you in the price range given that any of us are aware of: http://www.flipkart.com/powercolor-amd-ati-radeon-hd5670-1-gb-ddr3-graphics-card/p/itmd5ynejajvnugy?pid=GRCD5YNDPUNSBGRK&_l=eMkFvRRNzht07TRKwH82mg--&_r=jzGpNYap84NMeDow2rXeww--&ref=0b90b027-7892-4599-83c3-89b53ddefb90

HD 5670 is around 4 times more powerful than 9400 gt.

agreed, if you think the 9400 is good enough the 5670 will be awesome enough.
  39. thanks guys !! but if i cannot get the powercolor card in the market then which brand should i take??will the cost change??
  40. Take what ever is the cheapest one. Brand doesn't really matter.
  41. so only the card model matters not the brand?? so why the cost sometimes differ much??
  42. Different vendors manufacture at different places in the world. The distance they ship the cards differ, so the price differs as well. Some manufacturers make the price high, just because the company is famous. There's a lot of factors, but same models will performance very similarly (within 5% of each other).
  43. normally what you can check are the card clock, the more expensive ones comes with factory overclock, by doing so normally the have a better cooling solution, that is one of the things that cout in price.

but basically they are all the same GPU. just the shell is different
  44. suggest the names of the vendors..
  45. XFX, sapphire, MSI, powercolor, Asus, etc
  46. okay..
