Alright so after finally connecting everything i turned my new build on for the first time

5 seconds in my xfx 750 watt made a pop noise and smoke came out, i turned it off right away

I tried again and now its working

Should i go replace my psu or will it be fine

That is very weird, if its a new build and the PSU is under store warranty I would think about replacing the PSU before keeping it. If a PSU dies, it usually takes mobo, video card, etc with it. I learned the hard way and a nice $800 bill. On the otherhand it could also just have been a fluke, but I wouldnt trust it at all.

Replace it.

Even if it works fine now, it might fail under load or something. Whatever was destroyed didn't impact immediate use, but you never really know what was lost until you need it.
