i recently purchased a creative dxr3 decoding board and I'm having trouble getting it to pass the dolby digital audio stream to my live!5.1 sound card for decoding. Creative told me it wasn't possible, but I'm wondering if there is another way... the dxr3 has an spd/if out (RCA jack) and I was wondering if this could somehow be routed into my soundblaster live!5.1's spd/if in (the 2 prong jack.. i don't know what it's called). Otherwise, I have to run with a software decoder and that's not the reason I bought the decoder board.
Or, as another possibility, is there dvd software that will use my dxr3 decoder board, as well as send the 5.1 audio stream to my live! board? thanks for the help!

Are you using computer speakers or a receiver for your sound?

If it works for you then don't fix it.

i have my live! card decode the dolby digital audio stream and pass it to my reciever that is dolby digital ready (it has 6 inputs). If I use the decoder board.. the best I can do is dolby pro-logic, which is terrible compared to DD. I would really like to figure out why it isn't working.. hope this clears things up.

Dang it...I was hoping to catch that post in the same minute...
Anyway, if Creative says it's impossible, then it probably is.

Unfortunatly, Dolby Pro Logic is all you will get. Id do beleive that the Plantuim version has 6. Analog output but you might want to consider replacing your receiver with something more than just analog. These days you can get a good quality DD and DTS Reciever for under $300. I just ordered a Yamaha HTR 5040 for a friend at More Audio Video and their service has been ecellent and the reciver that cost would have cost me $500 at Best Buy's only costs around $300 with standard shipping. Then you can sell your current one for $100 and make off with better equipt. for $200.

If it works for you then don't fix it.
