PCI compatibility

I have a graphics card that requires 2 pci-e connectors .

I also have a psu that has 1 pci-e(6pin) and 1 pci-e(6pin +2 )

This is probably a stupid question , but can I use the pci-e 6+2 with the normal 6pin pci-ebut just leave the 2 pins out?

Yes you can that is why it is split. If you had a card the requires an 8 pin then you have an 8 pin as well. There aren't any stupid questions just stupid answers. LOL
