What core PC parts for gaming would you recommend?

I am building a gaming box in Seoul after seeing the skyhigh prices here. I plan on shipping the core parts from an order at newegg.com as the prices are way cheaper than here in Seoul. My budget for a processor, RAM, hybrid HDD and video card is $350-400. My plan is to keep this system for 3 years so I was planning on an I3 processor, 4GB of Ram and a Xfire capable MB running two cheaper cards vs. one higher end card. Is this the ideal way to go for someone on a tight budget but wants to enjoy games like COD type war games?
