Help me!

Battlefield 3 1080p in ultra with an i5 2500k oc to 4.0 ghz

Prices
460=100
560=160
4870x2=160

I don't plan on going sli/xfire so that isn't a deciding factor. I have a 700w psu so that doesn't matter either.

is that better than the above? I thought it was about the same as the 560 performance wise and im more into nvidia, but if it performs alot better in bf3 I will go in that direction.
  3. if you want to run ultra at 1080p you would need atleast a 7870, 6970 or GTX 570.
  4. You can drop the 4870x2 as you said you don't want crossfire, and that card is in crossfire, it also does not support DX11, so you'll be missing out on some details.

What resolution do you play at?

    I meant I don't wanna run two cards. My mobo has a x16 & x4 slots.

    I play in 1080p

For the price he won't be able to run ultra settings. But if he did up the price range to $200-250 he could get a 560Ti or the 7850 (which performs similar to the 570 for less and it is an improvement on the 560Ti 448 for the same price). In your current price range I would get the 6870 because is is cheaper than the 560 for about the same performance.

    560- http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814121446
    6870- http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814150561

7850- http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814102986 but if you have to buy now then this would have to be my choice of them in stock http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814125419

If you have the power also consider a GTX 480. It is basically a GTX 570 but it uses a little more power and runs a bit warmer. It still supports DX11 and like the 570, when you overclock it you reach GTX 580+ speeds. The GTX 480 on newegg.com is 250$ (100$ less than 7870, 6970, and 30$ less than a GTX 570) but it was on sale before for 200$ so if you wait it may go on sale again. At this price it is a much better option than a 560 ti(210$) or a 560(180$).

Honestly though if you are willing to overclock it a 560 or 560 ti would run the game quite well. If you are really wanting to max it out you'll want to spend a little more.

    Slightly expensive...

The 7850 is the same price and performs better than that so ...NO.
Same can be said about the 480 the 7850 performs similar/better for the same price.

Oh I see, you really want to see the performance on BF3. The 560 should be a bit faster I think, but the 6870 has lower power consumption and usually cheaper. It depends on you, when you like nVIDIA and really care about BF3 performance then go ahead with the 560. It's a pretty good one. This is a pretty good basic Comparison at anandtech bench. It shows that the card trade blows, with the exception of some aspects. And the 560 performs better with BF3.
  12. Alright the most I can up my budget to is 310..
I just want BF3 ultra settings(idc about the aa). at decent fps. like 40+
  13. Well, since you like nvidia this GTX 570 would be nice...

Or, you could even wait until the mainstream kepler comes out (The GTX 670 or 660) if you think waiting doesn't matter until May-June.

In that case it is the 7850 for sure. It performs at the 570 level and is cheaper.
This one is the one I would get if it weren't out of stock

of the ones in stock I would get this

Not waiting thattttt long. so is the 570 better than the 560 ti 448?

Yeah it is better than the 560 ti 448. The 570 is it's older brother.
  17. If you can up your budget to $ ~$300 then you can get a GTX 570 which will do the job on ultra...

    http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/battlefield-3-graphics-performance,3063-7.html

Just bear in mind, Battlefield 3 is a very demanding game. You may still get some slow downs during intense action.
  18. Yes 570 is better than the 560Ti 448 but don't waste your money get the 7850 it uses less power and performs similar to the 570.
    http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/radeon-hd-7870-review-benchmark,3148.html

570 I would get if you really want to waste your money
    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814130620
  19. I have to agree with the 7850, it consumes less power and performs just slightly slower than the 570 (faster than 560 ti 448). But since you like nVIDIA you decide OP...

7870? How much faster is that than the 7850? is it worth the extra money? If its a huge difference I guess i could go 350 as max. but no higher...
  21. 7870 shows similar performance to the 580 at a cheaper price
    http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/radeon-hd-7870-review-benchmark,3148-6.html
Should be able to do all you are asking 40+ FPS on ultra minimal AA.
  22. What CPU do you have?

    i5 2500k

    8GB ram

    700w psu
  24. Okay just checking that you don't have something that would restrict the GPU. If possible the 7870 would be a great choice.
  25. Any recommendations on which 7870?

Sorry, I got out of the pc part loop. I got into android real bad, but im back to pc gaming. I miss it<3
  26. I would get this sapphire one before it is out of stock
    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814102981
It should offer good overclock potential and is a very good brand.
Should easily be able to get up to 1150 if you want to overclock and to 1300 if you know how to do it.

P.S.- some people are selling the free game if they don't want it for $30 no ebay so that the total price is a bit cheaper.
  27. for the nice cooling solution go with a :
    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814127662

you could also go with the cheaper you will find:
    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814102983

they are basically the same just cooling solution and clocks can change.

but i would strongly recommend the MSI.
  28. He mentioned $350 as the max so I didn't want to go above that but if you do have the extra $10-20 these ones are also very nice.
    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814125418
    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814102983
    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814127662

By no means am I saying that the $350 sapphire is bad but these ones should just be slightly better. For example if you don't plan on overclocking (voids warranty) the Gigabyte card is overclocked to 1100mhz vs the 1000 stock rate. This can easily be achieved on the others but doing so will void the warranty.
  29. It should perform a bit better than the 7870 (580) but if it were my money I wouldn't. You can run into so many problems with CF (how the computer reads the card) micro stutter and other things. Also the card has lots of bad reviews.
    http://www.tomshardware.com/charts/2012-vga-gpgpu/compare,2932.html?prod%5B5386%5D=on&prod%5B5453%5D=on&prod%5B5390%5D=on&prod%5B5454%5D=on
    http://www.tomshardware.com/charts/2011-gaming-graphics-charts/compare,2680.html?prod%5B5076%5D=on&prod%5B4835%5D=on
  30. YES CF is different performance, if the cash is so close like that, go with the single card solution, there will be a lot of problem you will run into if you are using crossfired cards, some games will not get so much performance, other games will only work with 1 card properly, etc, single card solution is always the way to go, unless you can go with a much lower price, or if you've had a single card and wan't only to increase its performance instead of buying another gpu.
  31. Only a bit better? Hmm ***.

The 560-448 is a "broken" 570. Take a 570 that failed testing with a bum SM or disable 1 SM on a 570 and what ya buying is a 560-448.

i did read, cant i recommend the same card as you?
  35. You just offered no details into why. Just posted what was already there.
  36. So if I got 360 get the 7870
And if I only have 170....?
  37. LOL you good man, increasing budget slowly and then go back to the beginning budget.

    I would recommend:

    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814150561

    or if you like nvidia

    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814121446
  38. Well I mean, I'd rather spend less cause then I could get it a week earlier.

But I honestly might go in between and get the http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814162089&Tpk=battlefield%203%20edition

It saves me from buying battlefield 3 and its a decent card. I'd be getting it really for 200.

Nice combo...I'd check to make sure that the memory kit is supported by my motherboard. If not, I don't think the egg would allow returning just the memory kit.

Also, note that the card is NOT a 560Ti or a 560Ti 448. It is a plane 560.

    Plain* ;)

and yes it does. I saw that its a plain one. nbd though, i don't mind. thats a great deal.
  41. I have the best idea instead of getting more memory that you don't need, as long as you currently have at least 4GB, (that comes with an overpriced card, card $150 with $45 of memory) then get the 6850 for $250.
