Hello I have a computer and I want to install a video card inside so i can play bf3 on medium setting or so.

My monitor is 1280 x 1024 and i'm not lookin to run the game at high setting all I want is to play with good fps.

Since my pc has a 300w psu I'm gonna replace it with a 500w psu and install a video card also.

The components are : Asus Radeon 6670 1gb ddr5 http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=14-121-442

Power supplie : antec 500 w http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817371004

So my question is Will this psu (with 500w) be able to run the video card (asus radeon 1gb ddr5) and the rest of the pc ?

My second question is will I be able to atleast run bf3 on medium setting or low setting on 1280 x1024 with the asus radeon 6670 1gb ddr5

Thanks in advance

Solution
okay now i'm convinced, get the 500W psu and you'll be good to transplant the psu to another machine/case in the future. But if you could get a 80+gold certified psu, 550~600W that'd be awesome!

case seems to have bad ventilation... but psu will be fine

#2 this is hard to answer. your graphics card will achieve a given avg. frames per second. diff ppl prefer very different fps. You will LIKELY enjoy the gameplay with this card on medium settings and it will DEFINITELY run no problem on low.

good power supply

This is all assuming you have a decent 4 core PROCESSOR. If you dont, you can forget about bf3 unless its hyperthreaded dual core or something.

I have an amd athlon 64x 2 4800+ rated at 2.51ghz I think it won't run bf 3 since it's a dual core right ?

Or do you think I have any chances with that cpu.. xD

I think i'll have to upgrade my cpu also. :S

what do you mean by ok ?

Because you said earlier that you have the 6670 on 1280 x 1024 and you can run it on high setting (e5200 is a dual core) . How many fps do you have ?

I'm assuming I'll be able to run on medium with my dual core cpu ?

Edit: i forgot to say that i have 4gb of ram.

I can put around $500

the architecture of a cpu is what makes the game run well, in fact BF3 - a descendant of BFBC2 is actually CPU intensive by default anything higher in detail, your GPU adds into the taxation list.

* you'll be able to play at a descent frame rate just don't expect eye candy to jump out of your screen ;)

its a computer dating from 2006. if i want to spend $500 on pc i'd like a new build instead of just upgrading an hp case lol I think it's possible to have a pc at $500 that can run bf3 on high setting and specially on 1280 x 1024

take a pic of the back side showing the psu and the inside, for us to be sure - if the psu is atx standard than it should....hang on a min, what PSU? are we building a new machine or just salvaging old rig to accommodate new GPU and psu?

as you can see the psu is top mounted :S

$500? You can do a nice build for that!

Motherboard: MSI H61M-P21 B3 - $52.99
CPU: Intel Pentium G850 - $92.99
Graphics Card: HIS Radeon HD 6850 - $139.99 after rebates
Memory: Kingston HyperX Blu 4GB - $28.99
Hard Drive: Western Digital Caviar Green 1 TB - $99.99
Power supply: Corsair CX 500 - $41.99 after rebates
Case: Antec Gaming Series One - $59.99

Total: $516.93

If you have additional $37, I'd strongly suggest getting Intel i3 2120 instead of Pentium G850. It would bring your total price to $553.93. Don't be fooled though - the pentium isn't a weak gaming processor, but for battlefield 3 hyperthreading, which i3 features, really helps. I also considered you could keep your old DVD drive.
