So I'm hoping to have built a computer for £300 - £400 by the end of this month. Mainly for work, but will be playing games on it too. I am in the UK and possible sites include dabs.com, amazon.co.uk. Here's what i've got so far.

CPU: i5 2500K - I looked into Ivy bridge, but since i will be using a graphics card, i dont see any point in a 3570K (yet)

Mobo: GIGABYTE GA-B75M-D3V Intel B75 (Socket 1155) Motherboard - Cheap Mobo that can also support ivy bridge if i want to upgrade. Not much time has gone into choosing this (relatively) so am more than happy for changes here.

Graphics card: 6850 - haven't decided, but am looking at the ASUS and Sapphire models. BTW, anyone know if the price of this will drop back to £90 like it was a month or so ago?

I have a hard drive, optical drive, keyboard, mouse, moniter. Looking for recomendations on Power supply and possible improvements to the parts i have already chosen.

Thanks

Thanks! I'm not including the OS in the £400. I am currently looking to try and cut corners by seeing if I can get any discounts on CPU and Mobo bundles.

But your list would work if we put the 6850 and a cheaper mobo instead. Would you recommend the 6870 strongly over the 6850?

I think you'll be much happier if you do go with the one i picked :D

cool, thanks. Do you think the difference of £20 is justifiable to get a 6870 over a 6850? im looking at the sapphire models for both.

No not really a 10 dollar difference would be justifiable

thanks. Forgive me for asking so many questions, im still a noob!
but do you think 430W is enough? I am also planning on putting in a wireless card and may overclock the 2500K, so i thought i should at least go for the 500W?

i know this wil be a bit annoying, but i found a I5 3570K + Asus P8Z77-V LX Motherboard CPU Bundle. For £266 do you guys think i should choose this over the one that we have already chosen?

Ok, i have baisically changed the entire build now, here is what im thinking:

i5 3570K
Asus P8Z77-V LX Motherboard
OCZ Technology PSU, ModXStream Pro, 500W PSU

with the improved grapics on the ivy bridge CPU, i can hold out a bit longer on the Graphics card, and then buy a really nice one with more generous funds. What do you think?
