It's a decent start but I wouldn't recommend going 990FX on any build when even the lowest end Pentiums and i3s will run circles around it, what's the budget? Knowing that will help to suggest better parts.

also if your in SoCal i have some used parts if interested i5 750 P55-UD4P 4 GB G Skill ram 1600 HD 5850

Budget is pretty much where it's at, $900 or less. The total at this point in time is something around $885.

EDIT: Scratch that, one of the deals just went off, it's at $916 with shipping.
