I am going to buy a new cpu, I do not intend on doing any over clocking and price is not that much of a issue. My choices are amd athlon 64 fx60 toledo or the opteron 180/2.40GHz what do you think...........

From what I understand.. the FX60 has less overhead for OC, while the Opty do have more overhead.

The FX60 can be OC more, but not much more. That's my take on it. But perhaps someone else could explain better.

Thanks for the straight answer. why is everyone so up on the opty? i was considering the 4800 for the better price until i saw the info on the multilplier. is a toledo core a toledo core? the opty and the fx both have it. i thought the fx was the top end for speed? where does the extra come from? is the fx just the same chip with the multiplier unlocked.
