Hey guys, I put together my new pc and once i had finished i plugged my pc into my monitor in via the onboard graphics (VGA port) and then i made sure everything was good and switched it on i saw that the cpu fan and fans came on but the screen was still black I could hear the Hard drive spin up also , I was wondering do i need to buy a AM3 Cpu and install that to update the bios so i can get my FX 4100 Working? Or could something else be dead?

Please help ... Thanks :)

The motherboard that you have supports the FX4100 CPU only at bios version FD or later. This motherboard may have shipped with earlier bios version FA (this version does not support FX). Find a way to check the bios version, if it is lower than FD (like FC, FB or FA), then your motherboard needs a bios update to support the FX4100.

I have just taken a look over the manuals and the whole box and it dosent say any where what bios version is installed :(

Simply go to your local computer store. ask them if you can borrow a AM3 cpu or update your bios
if they can't or won't. Order a cheap athlon or dual core phenom and update the bios to the latest. and Then try FX 4100 again. I had the same issue with my Sabertooth 990FX and FX 6100. But.. after finding the 6100 was still a fail.. i moved back to phenom..

Hope this helps!
