Hi,
I am upgrading my PC and wanted a little help on deciding on a PSU.
I'm pretty much set on the Antec VP-450 450W ATX 12V v2.3, but I've been told the CORSAIR Builder Series CX500 V2 500W ATX12V v2.3 80 PLUS is more efficient.

CORSAIR Builder Series CX500 V2 500W ATX12V v2.3 80 PLUS:

Antec VP-450 450W ATX 12V v2.3:

The only reason I have my doubts on the Corsair is because, other than the price and it would be more than enough power, this chart says the Antec is better quality:
www.eggxpert.com/forums/thread/323050.aspx
(Corsair CX - tier 3/Antec VP - tier 2b)

I know it's a small difference but I've heard bad things about Corsair PSUs otherwise. (Also the Antec is a very fair price. Only 38 bucks!)

System Specs(now and w/ upgrades I plan to get with the PSU):

-AMD Athlon II X4 640 ~3.0GHz
-ATI Radeon HD 5570(plan to upgrade to XFX Double D Radeon HD 6870)
-4 GB of RAM(Upgrading to 8GB G.SKILL Ripjaws X Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-pin DDR3 1600 >> http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231428 )
-GIGABYTE M68MT-S2P motherboard >> http://www.gigabyte.com/products/product-page.aspx?pid=3922#sp

Any help is much appreciated. Thanks in advanced!

the antec should be of better quality, but both are close and almost negligable. toms personally used the antec one to power their 500$ build for this month on the front page.

I will also note that 430w can handle low end builds. tom used an i5-2400+6870 for their 600$ december 2011 build with a 430w antec earthwatts

That chart just isn't worth it
Too many long ago discontinued units clogging it up and alot of opinionated rankings
You're looking at a pair of budget grade power supplies and the Corsair is the better of the 2
Single rail ( only matters when comparing against a dual rail, and then not always )
Higher 12v output ( 34a v 30a )
2 x 6 pin pcie connectors ( you'll need them )
Active PFC ( no little red voltage switch to confuse you )

With the specs I listed, would the 430 be enough, or more or barely or what?

That's basically what somebody else told me, but I'd really rather not spend the extra money unless it is seriously worth it. Also, Is the 430 the same as the 500 but with just less wattage?

Forget brands......some "brands" make great, very good, good and rather crappy PSU's...... what you want to think about is the series offered by the brand.

Antec CP, SG series ... great
Antec HCP / HCG series ..... very good
Antec EA series .... good
Antec Bq, neo series ..... crap

Corsair HX ...... great (except for 1000, and 1050)
Corsair TX V2 .... very good
Corsair TX ....... good

Id grab this for $52
