I5 2320 performance?

Been using it a while, having difficulty quantifying its performance with my lack of knowledge (plus it seems impossible to find any benchmarks on my CPU). It seems everybody in the world has a i5 2500K, so I'll compare to that.

Running a 7950, is there any appreciable performance difference between using a 2320 and 2500K in the majority of games? Because everyone always says a GPU is 10x more important, but looking through some game performance tests with different CPU's some of the FPS differences are bigger than I expected on some of the CPU heavy games.

Also, importance of PCIe 3.0 over 2.0 with my setup? I don't know if my mobo supports 3.0 since it just seems like some generic cheapo Lenovo board.

  1. It's just the 2500K, but clocked lower, and it can't overclock. Not a big difference. Only the Ivy Bridge motherboards support PCIe 3.0, but the difference between 2.0 and 30.0 is so minimal. The performance gains are about 5%.
  2. Thanks, reassuring to hear.
