MSI Twin Frozr II HD 6950 High Idle temperature?

Hey guys,

I've currently been noticing that my video card is for some reason idling at 60°C, which is quite odd because it definitely does not idle that hot. Many reviews I've seen say it idles at around 35-45°C. It's a fairly new card as well so I'm not sure why. I cleared it of dust as well..

The thing is its weird, under load, it's only 5°C hotter LOL.

Any suggestions?

Is your case airflow good? If so, you may have a faulty card.

Well actually, this might be it? Because I was recently given a new case, and I did notice that it makes my PCI-express slot sit a lot lower, so my card is a lot closer to the bottom of the case than it use to be....... But I don't think I can really remedy this without getting a new case ugh.

Not sure if it downclocks or not

Well, try getting it some more air with a house fan, if it cools down, it's your case.

+1 Obviously, it's just a short term solution and for troubleshooting, but I've actually used a box fan, ages ago, to cool one of my old GPU's (Heavily OC'd 6600GT).
