Hp pavillion dv9812us graphics card problems

I have an HP Pavillion dv9812us. When i turn it on, the screen remains black but the lights are flashing. I tried to remove the battery, but still the same problem. Someone told that this could be a graphical chip overheating problem and that it need to be replaced the motherboard. Any suggestions?

I would LOVE to know if you get anywhere with HP. My daughter and I BOTH have a problem with graphic chip.
