Need advice on $2000 - $2500 video edit rig please

I need your help and advice please. I'm building a new rig for the first time so am a total newbie. Here's what is going into my rig, but I would like to have it all wired up with Alchemy braided red cables for some style, and don't know which ones to buy. Also, general advice/thoughts on if my video card is a good choice and balanced with the rest of my choices so far, or any other things that seem whack.

It will be primarily for surfing/email/video editing of home video/video capture in HD from PVR and old SVHS tapes, etc. Not much if any gaming, though with a rig with decent speed/power, I may get into a game here or there.

I don't need a mouse/keyboard/monitor at the moment.

I prefer to source everything from www.ncix.com in Canada, since I'm in Vancouver BC.

I heard this may do, but please add/subtract for what will be visible/showing through the side window for some stylin' wiring:

Alchemy 24 pin male to female ATX power extension cable 30cm. Qty 1
Alchemy 8 pin male to female intel eps power extension cable 45cm. Qty 1
Alchemy 4 pin male molex to 4 pin female power extension cable 45cm. Qty 1
Alchemy 6 pin male to female video card power extension cable 45cm. Qty 2
Alchemy 4 pin male molex to SATA power extension cable 45cm. Qty 3
NGear SATA serial ATA hard drive data cable 45cm 7 pin. Qty 3. (would much prefer Bitfenix, but these were suggested by the builder and it seems Bitfenix only makes 30cm ones-----------thoughts?)

I'm going for red braided cables and blue LED fans by the way. Any way to control lighting/dimming if I also add a Bitfenix Alchemy LED 30cm strip to the inside of the case?

here is a good build. you wont need 1000w since you can never do 3-way SLI. if you really need the lights and stuff, go ahead but it really doesnt add anything but bling and cost to your build
