Any input on which brand I should go with here? The only differences I'm noticing are:

800MHz core clock XFX
840MHz core clock HIS

1250MHz (5.0Gbps) memory clock XFX
1280MHz (5.12Gbps) memory clock HIS

That's the ONLY difference you will notice. Neither will give you any REAL world differences in performance.

Speaking from experience, I have owned both HIS and XFX video cards. Both are well put together. I have had to only deal with one manufacturer's tech support and that was XFX. They were GREAT!

IN the end, tomato, tomatoe, choose whichever and I'm sure you'll be satisfied. Personally, I'd go with the cheaper one, but I'm cheap.

Go with HD7850, 6950 is discontinued.

If you have to buy 6950, go with XFX for lifetime warranty. You can overclock it yourself to 840/1280.

Yes my vote will go to the XFX, if both coolers are the reference design, because they have better warranty. But if the 6950 of his has IceQ X OR the XFX has DD cooler, I can tell you the IceQ X is a better cooler, based on an article in tom's hardware I saw a while ago.
