GPU upgrade

Hi,

I currently have an Asus ATI 6770, which is pretty good for games, but I'd like to be able to play Skyrim and BFBC2 at highest settings, so I was wondering which card out of the following 2 I should get.

If I sell my current GPU I can get about £50, so these cards are about £100, if you can recommend any other cards for a similar price point, please do!

Thanks!

  1. Sorry for double post, just saw the template, and I can't edit my original post or delete thread, so here is the template.

    Hi,

APPROXIMATE PURCHASE DATE: Not sure - when I get money (but probably within a month)

    BUDGET RANGE: £150-£175

USAGE FROM MOST TO LEAST IMPORTANT: Gaming - Skyrim, BFBC2, maybe BF3

CURRENT GPU AND POWER SUPPLY: ATI Radeon 6770, PSU Alpine 600W

OTHER RELEVANT SYSTEM SPECS: Phenom II 960T at 3.6Ghz, Asus M5A87 mobo, 8GB Corsair XMS3 RAM

    PREFERRED WEBSITE(S) FOR PARTS: dabs.com, amazon.co.uk

    COUNTRY OF ORIGIN: UK

PARTS PREFERENCES: ATI Radeon, manufacturer preferably Asus or XFX (no budget cards)

    OVERCLOCKING: No OC, no Crossfire

MONITOR RESOLUTION: No idea, old DELL monitor running on DVI

ADDITIONAL COMMENTS: BFBC2 and Skyrim on Highest settings, if at all possible

  2. GTX 560 Ti is the best you can get for that price!
  3. The 560 Ti is a lot more of a performance boost from the 6770 than the 7770, which performs about at the equal of a 6850, or under it as rated by PassMark: http://www.videocardbenchmark.net/high_end_gpus.html while the 560 Ti is an equivalent to the 6950 and it performs amazingly, I have one so I know, I have never seen skyrim go below 57 fps on my computer with the 560 Ti and every thing maxed out so i would say definitely go for the 560 Ti
  4. Assuming your PSU is of good quality (and actually capable of outputting what's on its label), I agree with matter37.

That's my PSU, not great I know, but would it be OK for just one GTX 560 ti?
  6. It should work. 34A on 12V rail is enough.
  7. you really won't get much increase in performance in skyrim with a gpu upgrade as the game is very cpu limited.

thats a very good price for the 560 ti tho. Go for it since it will give you better performance in bfbc2.
