Cox Modem Alternatives?

Hello =) I'm getting ready to move to a new address, which means not getting the benefit of using my friend's router connection anymore. I need to set up Cox highspeed internet for the new address, but before I do, are there any other cable modems out there that would perform just as well if not better than the one I would be receiving from Cox?

Not only would it be nice to save some money, but it would also be nice to not get a "generic" brand (if that's what Cox supplies). Anyone here with knowledge in this area have any recommendations? Are there any particular brands/models of cable modems I should look into before I simply go with Cox's default modem?
