Latest iteration of a £700-800 build for mixed use including gaming, digital photo/video work, software development etc.:
Intel Core i5-3570K 3.4GHz (OEM - will do some modest OC)
Gigabyte GA-Z77X-UD3H Mobo
Corsair 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 1600MHz Low Profile Vengeance memory
Sapphire Radeon HD 7850 2GB OC
Coolermaster Hyper 212+ evo
Zalman Z9 Plus case
Adata HM series 550W 80 plus Bronze PSU
OCZ 120Gb Agility 3 SSD (already have this)
WD 1TB Caviar Black 3.5" SATA-III
Sony AD-7261S optical drive
Win7 Home Premium

The Kepler mid-range cards are coming out soon so you might want to hold off on the 7850. It could go down in price by a lot or you might want to get a 660/660ti. Your choice.

Same advice as patflute, definitely wait for the GTX660, for both price drop and performance.
And I would suggest an i7 for maximum rendering speed, and programming...
The price increase might be able to compensate by changing to a mATX board if you are not going for CF / SLi.
A motherboard combo deal with CPU and or ram maybe?
