I had a Sapphire Radeon HD 7950 die on me so I replaced it with this Sapphire Radeon HD 7970 OC. Now the 7970 is making a weird humming/buzzing sound only when the frame rate is really high.
my gtx 280's do that its nothing to worry, if you are playing an older game and your card is getting constant 200+ frames put the vsync on to slow it down and you won't hear your capasitors making that high pitched noise. you wont get that pitched noise in bf3 for example as your card is being fully loaded
that buzzing is a common issue with almost all radeon cards, and also common in some nvidia cards.
that buzzing is not a problem but:
what was the reason to 7950 die? you must make sure what caused that because upgrading to a 7970 is not a good option if you psu was the cause of the 7950 death.
well, the noise is not a problem, normal on a lot of video cards, just make sure your psu can really handle the power the gpu is pulling.
Well its an XFX PRO850W XXX Edition Semi-Modular 80 Plus Silver Certified 850 Watt Active PFC Power Supply. I've read that you only need a good 650 watt psu. I really don't know what went wrong with the 7950 I was surfing the web and the whole system crashed. I tried my old 6850 and the pc came right back on so I figured the 7950 must have had some kinda short maybe the vrm was bad.
