SATA 3 vs. 6 questions

Last response: in Systems

I am building my first computer to use for gaming and have a few questions.

I bought the following storage devices and wondered if they plug into the SATA 6 or 3 ports? Since they say they transfer at 6GB/s, I am thinking the SATA 6 ports, but when I searched online it indicated that at least the SSD is a SATA III device. Now I am confused.

My ASUS P8Z77-V motherboard has both Z77 SATA 6 ports and ASMedia SATA 6 ports. Should I use the Z77 ports first (two of them)?

Also, are the cables different for the two SATA ports?

Please help. Thanks!

Hard Drive:
Seagate ST1000DM003

SSD:
sandisk sdssdx-120g-g25

Don't confuse yourself.

Sata II (SATA 2.0) 3 Gbits/s transfer
SATA III (SATA 3.0) 6 Gbits/s transfer

Plug your SSd on the intel sata III ports.
