Dell Laptop Upgrade

Hello,
I am looking at a cost effective way to upgrade my laptop.
Here are the specs:

http://imageshack.us/a/img100/560/motherboard.png

The model is a dell studio 1745, I was hoping to upgrade the motherboard to the 1747 model which is completely identical apart from the CPU socket (PGA988 instead of PGA478), Chipset (Mobile Intel 5 Series Discrete GFX instead of GM45/PM45) and the graphics card (1GB ATI MOBILITY RADEON HD 4650 instead of 512MB ATI MOBILITY RADEON HD 4570). Would I be able to do this, and if yes, what CPU's can I put in?
Thanks,
James

More about dell laptop upgrade
  1. I would find a dell section in one of the forums, and link your post to any number of sites, especially dell's own forum on their website. They can answer your question better. Your upgrade may also be limited by your heatsink. Many are proprietary, and no laptop cpus that I know of come with one for this reason.
  2. Hi :)

I own a laptop repair company....

Have you ever stripped down a laptop? if the answer is no, then forget it....

Its would be hard for a Pro, as I seriously doubt those motherboards are as similar as you think....

    So...no....

    All the best Brett :)

if your asking if it (1747) will fit into the same housing or case as the (1745) then the answer to that is yes.
they both have the same bottom base and if buying or searching for parts you'll see many parts between these models are universal.
    example:

    http://www.parts-people.com/index.php?action=item&id=7384

now if you have the skills to do it, I'm not sure.. :)
but yes, it can be done.
as for which or what CPU, I suggest you research the socket for that.
