Weird Desktop graphics corruption after PC Wakes Up from Sleep state

Hello everyone,

This is my first time posting. So, I build this system few months ago and right now everything works perfectly. However, I sometimes run through this weird desktop corruption, where the icons and text and even the taskbar get some graphics artifacts. This rarely happens after the computer wakes up from sleep state. I have linked a screen shot of the desktop below. Somtimes, the only way to bring it back to normal is a restart, or pressing Ctrl+ALt+Del and opening taskmngr. I want to know how to prevent this from happening and why is it happening.

System Specs:

CPU: Intel Core i5-2500K @ 3.3 GHZ
GPU: Sapphire HD 7970
RAM: 16 GB Corsair Vengeance
Window 7 ultimate 64-bit

Thanks in Advance.

Could be a driver problem - I'd recommend running a driver sweeper and then reinstalling your graphics drivers.

Could also be bad hardware, or some other sort of software glitch. I'd recommend checking your Windows error logs (right click My Computer --> Manage --> Event Viewer --> Windows Logs --> Application/System) and see if you have any warning or errors in there that might explain what is going on.

Worst case scenario, you could just disable sleep in your computer. An old rig of mine was always unstable when Windows 7 would come out of hibernation, so I just disabled it and problem solved.

I checked the Events viewer and there are no errors or warnings after and before sleep state.

I tried to reproduce those artifacts by manually putting the system into sleep and then waking it up but it does seem to occur.

Oh, and I'm using Asus p8z68 deluxe mobo with latest BIOS.
