Need help on pick new sound card

Hello all, I believe something went wrong with my pc on board sound card, so i decided to get new sound card, alot of review appear to me asus is better than creative? is that true?

My system as following:
my pc system as following:
i5 3570k
Asus p8z77-v
gigabyte gtx670
corsair 750w
corsair force series 3 120gb ssd

I used my pioneer hm30 micro system as speaker ( I used 3.5mm jack to RCA Line In as connection) and razer carcharias headphone. I am looking for sound card mainly for 2 thing, first is listen music then is playing game.
I am wondering what sort sound card should I get so I wont over kill it? ( prefer sound card good looking so I can see it through my side windows of the case) thanks

Cheap, look into the Xonar DG. More expensive, Essence STX. But first, I would recommend throwing away those headphones and getting real headphones (open pref for gaming), look into the Audio-Technica AD700 if you want wide soundstage (great for certain music and gaming).
