Dual Display Help

I currently have an extra monitor that i would like to connect to my current system to use as an extended display. My current pc specs are
X2 250

4gb ram
500gb 5400rpm hd
Both of the monitors are vga but the 3450 has a vga and a dvi i. If i got an adapter to go from dvi i to vga and hooked up the second monitor would it work? My main question is could my system handle it? Can the 3450 handle two displays if i they are not being used for gaming and is it even compatible at all? Thanks in advance.

Yes an adapter from DVI-I to VGA should work! Yes the card can handle a second display.
